Nobody said that healthcare reform was an easy task, however, after an arduous process, we now have a healthcare bill that extends and covers an estimated 32 million uninsured. How extraordinary is that? Not to mention, the millions that will now be able to buy health insurance without the fear of being denied coverage. Indeed, it is a historic moment!
What troubles me is the oppositions violent resistant. Democratic’s are saying that the GOP is in sighting violent behavior. Just today, CNN reports that at least 10 Democratic Senators received death threats while several others have received via fax - hate mail. There’s footage of Sen. King (R-Florida) who had a poster of House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, where he gives her the thumbs down and made a slapping motion across her face. Not to mention, on Sarah Palin’s twitter, she wrote “Commonsense Conservatives & lovers of America: Don’t Retreat, Instead – RELOAD!”
I realize that this bill for many is scary because we don’t know if this reform will bankrupt our system. But at least for now, let us be grateful for the opportunity this bill offers to millions of Americans who will now be covered under this healthcare reform. And in the words of the famous Rodney King, “Can’t we ALL, just get along?”
I completely agree. It is so disheartening to see so much negative reaction to a bill that may save billions of lives. In the article,"The Reality of Obamacare" it irritated me that the regulation of insurance was referred to as being socialized. I wish people took the time to do their research and see that the regulation of insurance is what we need and will help us more than harm us. I think that we should be happy that care is being extended to those who need it and that insurance companies will not be able to put a limit on how much care we should be able to receive.
