I'm so happy I'm in this class right now! This is so exciting. I'm happy that the reform passed because I do think our healthcare system is definitely in need of a reform. However I'm not so sure I'm on board with how everything will be reformed but most of it won't be in effect until 2014. I'm interested to see what else comes from the reform, especially because in reading a lot of the post op comments they were talking about how the pharmaceutical companies are coming out ahead. Also I don't know if the insurance issues we currently have are going to be fully addressed in the reform. But overall I think it will be a good thing I'm just not so sure that the process will be a good thing. As for Obama I saw a poll that his popularity was at 22% so I don't know if passing the reform will bring it up or not. As for how the bill passed and how the debate over it went down, I was appalled by both sides, I just feel like neither party was particularly well mannered but I guess that's politics.

I am also so excited to be in this class at this exact moment. This is a historic moment for every American. There are many positive aspects to this reform but there also many points that must be altered. For example, my brother, and many of my friends, own small businesses. They will be heavily affected by the new laws affecting their full time employees. Their costs are going to sky rocket and the proposed tax cuts are not enough. I know owners that are already limiting the number of full time employees they are going to be hiring. This country is built on small businesses...This needs to be handled.
ReplyDeleteOn a side note, the behavior of the GOP, and their lawsuits? Disgusting. Makes us look like a ridiculously immature country.
Oh and yea, as Roxy said, the effects wont be seen till 2014, so Lord only knows how things will play out in the mean time. I believe within 90 days there will be some changes but for the most part, no.
